Malajila: I’ll win Golden Boot if I do my job properly

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cuthbert Malajila says that if he does his job properly this season then he will surely win the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award. On Saturday the Zimbabwean international scored a brace against Bidvest Wits in a game that the Brazilians won 4-2.

Malajila is keen to better his record from last season where he scored 10 league goals. He knows that with the service provided to him by Sundowns’ midfielders there are expectations that he has to score more.

“I want to score more,” the former Maritzburg United striker told Goal. “I want not just to do it for myself but for the team as well. “Even if I don’t score and the team wins then I am happy.

“But as a striker I have to score goals because that’s my job. “If I can do that and win the top goalscorer award then I would have done my job right.”

Malajila will have the chance to add to his season’s tally on Tuesday night when Downs face Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Mbombela Stadium at 19:30.
