Mighty Warriors given $5 each on return from Rio 2016 Olympics
The Mighty warriors who made Zimbabwe proud at the 2016 Rio Olympics have returned to Zimbabwe to a poor welcome. The sports Minister Makhosini Hlongwane has come under fire from the Zimbabwean public as he failed to organise a befitting welcome for the ladies who made Zimbabwe proud at the Olympics.
The Mighty warriors on arrival did not have any transport or food arrangements made for them. The ladies were then transported by a school bus to the city centre were it later vanished leaving the mighty warriors to find public transport to take them to their respective homes. Well-wishers bought the warriors lunch as it was clearly visible that they were famished from the travels. The Government and Zifa had not made any arrangements for the ladies.
Before heading to their respective homes they were each given five dollars and told that things were tough in Zimbabwe. They have been told that the rest shall be taken care of later. Chiyangwa who is the current Zifa president has absolved himself from liability by claiming that he was not responsible for the Mighty warriors’ poor welcome and that he too is appalled.
