Pastor Evan Mawarires’ message to the “haters”
As many Zimbabweans took to social media to express their disappointment at Pastor Evan Mawarires’ relocation to the United States of America as an asylum seeker, the pastor in an interview on the popular Zimbabwean snapchat account, 263 connect responded by saying, “you are so quick to tell me to come back home but you can’t tell Bob to go away.”
This has left many Zimbabweans divided on their support for Evan Mawarire. While others understand that his life is in danger while in the country therefore leaving was the only option, others want him to finish what he started within the country. Many see him as a leader and his leaving has left them feeling abandoned by the only glimpse of hope they could see.
Pastor Evan Mawarire travelled to South Africa shortly after his subverting the government charges were dropped. He travelled across South Africa sharing the #thisflag message. He was scheduled to appear in Durban on the 9th and 10th of August however was a no show. It was unclear at the time what his reasons for not attending the events were but later it was evident that this was due to the fact that he had found greener pastures in the United States of America. He is now scheduled to travel all around America for more #thisflag conferences. He is currently in Atlanta, the hip hop capital of America.
